Facial displays, the expression of emotions
My photographs of the facial expressions of non-human primates aim to highlight the similarities in the outward manifestation of inner feelings by humans and animals: the expression of emotions is the living, everyday evidence of our animal ancestry. As early as 1872, in The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals, Darwin noted the universal nature of emotional expressions and emphasized a common human and animal ancestry.
